SMS ENERGY SERVICES LIMITED (SMS)
SMS is an independent utilities consultancy and accredited meter operator, data aggregator and collector in both the half-hourly and non-half hourly markets. We specialise in energy and environmental services including consultancy, compliance work, building audits, and guiding customers to help them achieve environmental accreditations, as well as specifying and implementing bespoke monitoring and targeting projects in line with our customers’ specific objectives. Overall, SMS can provide a full end to end utility service from network infrastructure design, connection management and meter installation, through to validation of large-scale utility invoices and achieving recoveries, and ongoing utility management. We have offices in the UK (Wales and Scotland) and Italy, and an international customer base including both public and private sector clients.
SMS is the SABINA project coordinator, acting also as WP1 leader and leading SABINA’s exploitation activities. -
CSEM CENTRE SUISSE D'ELECTRONIQUE ET DE MICROTECHNIQUE SA – RECHERCHE ET DEVELOPPEMENT (CSEM)
CSEM, Centre Suisse d'Electronique et Microtechnique, is a private, non-profit Swiss organisation for applied research, with its origins in research for the watch industry. CSEM has as mission supporting Swiss and European industry with research and innovation, and is a recognized RTO. CSEM’s activities include technology, strategy and innovation consulting. It excels in technology transfer to small and large companies, focused on generating lasting value for a sustainable world. It also has a large experience and excellent track record in establishing successful start-ups.
In SABINA project, CSEM is the leader of WP3 contributing especially to management algorithm development at building and district level. -
UNIVERSIDAD DE NAVARRA (UNAV)
The Universidad de Navarra is a private non-profit Spanish institution with more than 13,000 students in 5 campuses: Pamplona, San Sebastian, Madrid, Barcelona and New York. It has been considered the best private University in Spain at least during the last years (annual ranking score by ELMUNDO newspaper), it is member of the European University Quality Consortia and Frameworks and was recognized with Campus of International Excellence in 2009. SAVIArquitectura is a research group from the School of Architecture at University of Navarra whose main objectives are: Energy simulation, monitoring and thermal calibration of buildings; Eco design of sustainable industrialized building envelope components; Management of materials and waste, life cycle assessment. The SAVIArquitectura team has extensive experience in simulation and thermal calibration of buildings that has turned into the development of proprietary and innovative knowledge and technology to get the thermal behaviour and establish energy efficiency scenarios. More than 25 national and international research projects have been done and have given rise to a patent file “Industrialized Self Holding System for Efficient Use of Energy in Buildings” (P201100747) and several publications and conference papers. Members of the research group are part of the Head of the Master in Environmental Design and Buildings Management where they also teach and disseminate the results of their research.
UNAV acts as WP2 leader in SABINA with the aim to develop a simulation environment. -
INSERO E-MOBILITY AS (INS)
Insero A/S, part of the Insero group, is a Danish greentech consulting and technology development firm specialised in developing the business of public and private companies in the areas of energy and information and communications technology (ICT). Our goal is to increase the knowledge level and innovation power of our customers through projects and associated businesses. The Insero group is a knowledge-based company, established in 2008 as a private equity firm dedicated to operating within the energy and ICT domains with a number of cluster companies under its direct control. Collectively the Insero group has more than 25 years of experience with ICT & Energy projects in both national and European context. Projects range from large-scale commercial development projects to Nordic and European R&D-projects. In addition to strong technical competences within the energy and ICT fields Insero also has expert competences within innovation processes, dissemination activities and business modelling techniques, with specific emphasis on small and medium enterprises. We have technical as well as business oriented expertise in various technology areas such as heat pumps, e-mobility, and smart energy/grid.
In SABINA, INS will contribute especially to the development of new business model for sale of heat from heat pumps owned and operated by e.g. a utility company. INS will also provide its test facilities at Green Tech Center and 2 local schools. -
FUNDACIO INSTITUT DE RECERCA DE L'ENERGIA DE CATALUNYA (IREC)
The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) is a publicly funded institution that performs innovative research over a wide range of disciplines within the science and technology energy field. The Thermal Energy Performance and Electrical Engineering groups at IREC institute that will participate in the proposal have wide expertise in building dynamics simulation and the development of microgrid energy management systems. IREC counts with state-of-the-art experimental laboratory facilities for evaluating and improving the performance of emerging energy technologies and building thermal/electrical components under realistic dynamic conditions.
IREC contribution within SABINA will consist on providing expertise for the development of simulation tools, energy management systems and testing the novel solutions developed within SABINA under laboratory semi-virtual conditions. IREC is leader of WP5. -

SCHE will lead WP4 and based on its expertise in Remote Terminal Units will participate in SABINA project increasing functionalities and capabilities to the novel generation of RTU and allowing bidirectional data flow with aggregator. -
NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS (NTUA)
The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is the oldest and most prestigious Technical University in Greece. NTUA has more than 7000 students in 9 different schools, 700 person as academic staff and 2500 as researchers. In the European research ranking Data for the year 2010, NTUA reached the 10th place among educational organizations and the 3rd position on Networking Ranking (Reputation). During the previous year, NTUA was either coordinator or participant in 67 European projects and in the last decade has been funded 400Μ€ from the European Commission. The Research Team: Raw Materials Exploitation and Sustainable Energy Solutions in specific has a remarkable performance in scientific research and it has participated in more than 16 European research projects. The activities of the Research Team are mainly focused on research and technology development in the field of extractive industries, including development of energy efficient processes, development of innovative materials for construction applications, design, simulation and technoeconomical evaluation of new production processes and Life Cycle Analysis as well as building energy management applications and demonstration activities. It has experienced significant progress the last 10 years in terms of research and development projects and has gained considerable experience and reputation, which can be proven from the numerous research programs it undertakes and the number of papers that has published.
NTUA as WP6 leader will lead the deployment of SABINA system on the test site, taking care of system installation in terms of hardware and software, establishing a secure and reliable system monitoring method and be responsible for analysing the results in respect to the IPMVP protocol. -

DSME is a registered interest representative (ID: 66552321207-56) in the EU.
DSME will be responsible for all activities connected with the standardization. -

Within SABINA AMI will be actively involved in the administrative and financial project management tasks in WP8 and as WP7 leader will be responsible for the dissemination activities in WP7.
